We are all aware that today's youth face immense pressure to perform at the highest level in every phase of life, including sports. This pressure has resulted in an unprecedented increase in the use of Performance Enhancing Substances (PES) in the United States, including anabolic steroids, HGH, stimulants and over-the-counter nutritional supplements that claim performance and/or appearance improvement. This disturbing trend affects children of all ages, in all corners of North America. To meet the growing unmet educational need in North America, the Baseball Hall of Fame is committed to addressing the growing problem of PES use by today's youth.

We are planning to launch an educational program called Be A Superior Example (BASE), which will detail the pitfalls of PES, while encouraging young people to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. The use of PES has cast a cloud over the game we love, but the real danger is faced by our young people. We have the opportunity to work together to positively affect young people across the continent with a timely and powerful message. With your support, we hope to impact more than one million young athletes in the first few years of BASE.
