Special programs and activities all day long will celebrate the history of our institution and the game of baseball.10:30 AM: The Plaques of the Gallery(Membership Desk)Learn about the history of the Hall of Fame Gallery and the process by which each plaque is made and installed in this 20 minute guided tour. The tour starts by the Membership and Museum Services Desk of the first floor.1 PM: Authors Series – Inside the Baseball Hall of Fame (Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor)Join us for a special panel discussion with Hall of Fame staff who contributed to our new book, Inside the Baseball Hall of Fame. Librarian Jim Gates, photographer Milo Stewart Jr., senior director of exhibitions and collections Erik Strohl and director of research Tim Wiles will take part in the round-table event, which will be held in the Museum’s Bullpen Theater and is included with Museum admission. A book signing will be held following the program. The book, published by Simon and Schuster, allows readers to go behind the scenes to see seldom or never-displayed items from the Museum’s collection. Inside the Baseball Hall of Fame also features some of the most important and popular artifacts on exhibit in Cooperstown – all gorgeously photographed in color. Informational captions were written by Hall of Fame experts and explain each artifact’s significance and relate unique stories associated with it. 2:30 PM: A Hall for Heroes Film Screening and Q&A with Homer Osterhoudt(Bullpen Theater, 1st Floor)Join us for a special screening of this film produced by MLB Advanced Media and narrated by Bob Costas as we honor the Hall of Fame’s 74th anniversary. The film tells the story of the founding of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the first Induction Ceremony, held in 1939. Following the film, take part in a special question and answer session with Cooperstown native Homer Osterhoudt, who helped to build the National Baseball Hall of Fame and attended the first Induction Ceremony.
